There are three fantasy novels, one historical and one science fiction. The stories are as different as their settings, but they share many things.
Set in Germany during the French Revolution, The Lightstep is a story of intrigue, espionage, romance and the corruption of ideals.
WE is a science fiction novel of the near future. It depicts a small community of scientists on the outermost fringes of the solar system - the only place left from which it is possible to see what humanity has become.
WE will not be published until 2009 at the earliest, so it will be some time before we can see the artwork. But I'm thinking of something based on the famous "Earthrise" picture taken by the Apollo astronauts and released by the National Space Science Centre. Using it here means I have to tell you that "this site is not endorsed by NASA". As if you didn't know.
The Cup of the World is a fantasy novel about a young woman whose runaway marriage becomes tangled in treachery and danger.
"A man came among the mountains, hunting his son with a sword."
The Widow and the King is the sequel to The Cup of the World.
The Fatal Child is the third and last in the Cup of the World series. It is a story of Kingship, sacrifice and antonement for sin.
The Fatal Child will be published in autumn 2008. We haven't designed the cover yet. But this beautiful sketch of a mother and child was drawn by Assheton Gorton for the endpapers of the hardback edition of The Cup of the World.
